Property sales and prices on the Costa del Sol are constantly rising
According to the National Statistics Institute, sales in the province of Malaga increased by 5% in the first quarter of 2018 compared to the same quarter in 2017. Both sales and property prices have been steadily increasing. Sales more than quadrupled in the first six months of 2018 compared to 2017.
Meanwhile, the traditional Costa del Sol property buyer is still looking for a home in the sun with close proximity to beaches and amenities. Torremolinos and Marbella can be justifiably proud of their beaches, having been awarded the “Q” status for the quality of their beaches by the Spanish Institute for Tourism Quality (ICTE).
The ICTE applies strict rules before awarding the coveted “Q” status and issuing quality certificates. Beaches must meet a number of criteria, such as daily monitoring of water quality, toilets and showers, safety and first aid, and accessibility for people with disabilities, for example.
Torremolinos beaches that have achieved 'Q' status are Bajondillo, La Carihuela, Playmar and Los Alamos, the latter also receiving its first Blue Flag in July. Marbella beaches at El Faro, La Venera, Nueva Andalucia, Cabopino, San Pedro Alcantara and Puerto Banus have also won the coveted 'Q' status.
