Date: 12.05.2016

The highest parking fees for your vehicle are in London, Stockholm and Oslo.

The Euronews portal has compiled a rating of the cost of parking in the center of different cities of the Old World, based on data from April 2016. It turned out that the most expensive place to leave your car is in London. The cost per hour here is €8. And the cheapest is in Sofia, where you will have to pay only €0.50 per hour. Thus, parking in London costs 16 times more than in the Bulgarian capital.

Interestingly, the cost of parking is sometimes comparable to housing. For example, in London, a parking space was recently sold for €445,600. This is twice the average price for housing in the country. The average cost of a parking space in the British capital is €25,260. On the other scale of the rating is Bucharest, where it is €1,680. There are exceptions to this pattern. For example, parking is not cheap in Madrid and Barcelona (€4.89 and €3.70 per hour, respectively). But the cost per square meter of parking is relatively low – €4,000. In Norway, leaving a car for an hour costs €6.40, but you can buy a square meter of parking for only €6,280. If you are a motorist, you will also be interested in the rating of European cities and countries by the number of traffic jams.
