Passenger traffic up 10 percent at Spanish airports in January
The upward trend of the last two years shows no signs of slowing down . In January 2017 , the number of people passing through airport terminals rose by 10 percent to 14.25 million . Increases during the month were recorded at all 18 of the country's busiest airports , with the sharpest rises at La Palma ( 29.3 %), Valencia ( 19.8 %) and Malaga – Costa del Sol ( 18.4 % ) .
For 2 years these figures have shown a growth trend , and it seems that there is no stop in the growth of passenger traffic at Spanish airports . This is certainly a positive indicator for the tourism sector , although , of course , it must be remembered that not everyone is a tourist , the share is made up of Spaniards who travel abroad or within the country . However , the flow of tourists is evidenced by the fact that half of the ten busiest airports in January were in the Balearic and Canary Islands , and of course in the country's major cities – Madrid , Barcelona and Valencia .
