Antalya-Gazipasa International Airport expansion completed

Date: 08.04.2016

The large-scale reconstruction and expansion project of Antalya-Gazipaşa International Airport has been completed. The entire volume of work was carried out thanks to investments by TAV Airports, which is the airport operator.

The airport runway has been extended 500 m towards the sea, and its total length is now 2,500 m. To implement this project, a tunnel has been built under the new section of the runway, through which the Antalya-Mersin state highway (D400) now passes.

As a result, almost any medium- and long-haul airliners (except giants like Airbus A380 and Boeing 747) will be able to land and take off at Antalya-Gazipaşa Airport in any weather conditions. The number of aircraft parking spaces has been increased from 3 to 6. In addition, the passenger terminal building has been expanded three times: now its area is 6,400 sq. m, the number of passport control desks has been increased from 5 to 14.

All together, this will increase the volume of transportation and raise the passenger flow of Antalya-Gazipaşa Airport from the current 450 thousand to 1.5 million people per year.

The renovated airport is ready to cooperate with new airlines, and many additional flights are planned to be introduced in the near future.

Direct flights to and from 19 cities in 8 European countries (Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Leipzig, Cologne, Stuttgart and Munich in Germany, Amsterdam and Rotterdam in the Netherlands, Oslo, Stavanger and Bergen in Norway, Copenhagen, Aalborg and Billund in Denmark, Stockholm and Gothenburg in Sweden, Helsinki in Finland, Vilnius in Lithuania, Brussels in Belgium) as well as to Beirut in Lebanon, Tehran in Iran, Tripoli in Libya are already accepted and departing from Antalya-Gazipaşa Airport. In the summer, a charter flight from Vnukovo Airport (Moscow) flies twice a week. Domestic flights connect Antalya-Gazipaşa Airport with Ankara (Esenboğa Havalimanı Airport), Istanbul (İstanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport and Istanbul Ataturk Airport) and Adana Airport.

Antalya-Gazipasa Airport is located 30 minutes from Alanya and only 15 minutes from Mahmutlar. The conveniences created by the international airport allow us to count on a large additional potential for the development of the tourist flow to the Alanya region, as well as a significant increase in the interest of foreigners in purchasing residential real estate in one of the most comfortable regions of the Mediterranean coast of Turkey.
