Six new year-round flights will be launched from Varna Airport in 2017
This year, Varna Airport will open six new year-round air services . Regular flights begin in the summer to Dortmund and Munich in Germany , Eindhoven , Larnaca , Milan Bergamo and Tel Aviv . In 2016 , the airports in Varna and Burgas handled a record number of passengers : 4,529,838 people , up 22 percent from 2015 , said Fraport Twin Star , the airport's manager . The number of aircraft movements at the two airports increased by 18 percent .
The largest year-on-year increase in passenger numbers in 2016 at Burgas Airport was among Russian passengers , up 40 percent , followed by passengers from the United Kingdom and Germany . The top five destinations from Burgas Airport were Moscow , Tel Aviv , London , Prague , and St. Petersburg . Varna Airport handled 1,672,017 passengers in 2016 .
