Prices and tariffs in Spain that will rise or fall in 2017
In 2017 , another price increase is expected for water , electricity and fuel . Many analysts predict another price increase in 2017 , which will hit the wallets of ordinary people . This price increase depends on global oil price surges and will entail a sharp increase in fuel and energy , which in turn will be reflected in the prices of consumer goods , but utilities may differ by region .
Electricity The cost will be determined by companies that are not regulated by the state , and the part of the tariffs that is set by the government will not change – this is about one third of the amount of the bills . According to the Minister of Energy , Álvaro Nadal , the increase in prices will be quite significant . The government has already prepared subsidies for low-income people in the form of a 25 % discount on the final electricity bill . It was established that this is about 7 million people : the unemployed , those with minimal pensions , and large families .
Water supply Cost depends on the region . In Barcelona and Madrid, prices have been frozen , despite the second capital's attempts to raise tariffs by 4.6 %. In general, throughout Spain , prices will vary quite significantly , and even in some places this difference may reach an increase of up to 349.3 %.
Mortgages In Madrid , Barcelona and Alicante , property prices are set to rise , but Euribor , which underpins most mortgages in Spain , continues to fall rapidly . At the end of 2016 , it was -0.08 %. This means mortgages are cheaper .
Fuel Oil producers have decided to reduce production of black gold from 2017 , so fuel prices will rise throughout the year .
Gas The gas tariff grid will rise to 3.5 % from January 1 , 2017. This increase reflects the increase in the cost of raw materials ( + 13.7 % compared to October last year ). In Spain, there are about 7.7 million consumers of natural gas .
Travel In Barcelona, the cost of travel remains unchanged (10 trips with a travel card – 9.95 euros, one ticket – at the level of 2.15 euros), as announced in mid-December. In Madrid, transport tariffs are also frozen. The cost of travel is from 1.50 to 3 euros. In Valencia, the situation is the same. One ticket on MetroBus costs 1.45 euros, in Metrovalencia and Bonometro – 1.50 euros and 7.20 euros respectively.
Tobacco and alcohol The government has raised the license for both positions. The price of tobacco products will increase to 2.5%. Fans of famous brands have already felt the rise in price on their wallets. Prices for alcohol have increased to 5%.
Pensions The pension increase, as in the last 3 years, will be 0.25% minimum, but inflation forecasts significantly exceed this increase. This means that older people will lose their current purchasing power. The Bank of Spain has warned that inflation could soar to 2% already in the first months of 2017.
Telephone calls Tariffs for calls to Movistar's Fusion will increase by 5 euros from February 5, 2017. Other provider companies have not yet announced their increases, but may do so before the end of the year.
