Residential construction rates are growing in Bulgaria

In the second quarter of 2016, Bulgarian builders erected 3.2% more buildings than a year earlier, and the number of apartments in them increased by 15.6%.

According to the National Statistical Institute, 521 residential buildings were built in Bulgaria in the second quarter, with a total of 2,248 apartments.

The most active construction is taking place in the areas of Plovdiv (81 houses), Burgas (80) and Varna (79).

39.1% of the built apartments have two rooms, 27.9% – three rooms. Moreover, if in the regions of Central Bulgaria, Plovdiv or Gabrovo, they build mainly large apartments (on average, more than 80 sq. m), then on the coast the area of typical housing is less than 50 sq. m.

Average prices for apartments in Sofia are €770 per sq.m, in Varna – €720 per sq.m, in Plovdiv – €530 per sq.m, and in Burgas – €540 per sq.m. It is expected that the square meter will become more expensive in 2016.
