In Spain, house sales have grown by almost 16% in a year

In February 2016, 34,771 real estate transactions were completed in the country. This is the highest figure in the last three months.

Residential property sales in Spain grew by 15.8% year-on-year in February. The second month of 2016 not only showed strong results, but also returned the overall sales dynamics on the Spanish market to a positive direction. After all, in January of this year, after 16 months of continuous annual growth, sales fell by 2.9%. The turn for the better was made possible by high purchasing activity on the secondary housing market. Here, the number of transactions increased by 21.4% compared to the same period in 2015 and amounted to 26,941. However, new housing was bought much less actively. The total number of transactions, albeit symbolically, fell by 0.2% year-on-year – 7,830 transactions.

Moreover, the largest number of acquisitions in the country in February 2016 were made in Andalusia – 6,476. In second place is Catalonia with 5,304 transactions, in third place is Madrid with 5,275 transactions. Valencia fell just short of Madrid, where 5,212 transactions were carried out in February. On the opposite side were La Rioja, Navarre and Cantabria, on the real estate market of which only 201, 416 and 457 transactions were carried out in February, respectively.
