An eco-village will be built in Turkey.
The new settlement will be located near the largest tourist area in Antalya. All houses in it will operate on solar energy.
The architect is the Turkish bureau GAD Architecture, which has experience in implementing projects all over the world. The village called "Ahk Kundu" (The Ahk Kundu) will be located 20 km north of Antalya near the Mediterranean Sea. The construction of 123 houses of various sizes is planned, the portal Radi Doma reports.
Each house will be two-story. The buildings will be connected by pedestrian paths and parks, which will smoothly grow into a recreation area on the coast. There will be running tracks, tennis courts, football pitches and boat stations.
The houses will be powered by photovoltaic solar panels, and only natural local materials – stone and wood – will be used in the construction process.
The facility, which is to be built in 2016, has already attracted the attention of the international community. Thus, the jury of the International Architecture Festival included it in the shortlist of the "Best Complex of the Future" award.
So far, only Dubai has taken on a similar project. The "smart city" will accommodate 160 thousand people and will be located on an area of 5,665 hectares. It will be completely self-sufficient in terms of resources, transport and energy.
