Property sales figures in Spain continue to rise
Spanish property sales rose 14.6 percent last year, with growth recorded in all 17 regions.
These figures were published for December 2017, showing a continuation of the growth in activity in the Spanish property market, which has generally been sustained throughout the year.
During the month, 32,211 transactions were registered in property registry offices across the country, up 9.2 percent compared to the last month of 2016, with higher figures in all 17 Spanish regions. The most significant increases were 44.4 percent in Castilla-La Mancha, 32.5 percent in Aragon and 31 percent in Asturias, while the Balearic Islands, Catalonia, La Rioja and the Basque Country recorded slight declines.
But as before, a much more complete picture of the state of the property market is painted by a longer-term view of the numbers, and for that reason the total for the whole of last year is perhaps a more reliable statistic. For the whole of 2017, the number of registered purchases increased by 14.6%.
Most importantly, the annual total of 464,423 sales is the highest in a calendar year since the bubble burst in 2008.
